Incorporating movement into the classroom doesn’t have to be extravagant, laden with prep work, or require a closet full of expensive props. Every lesson, no matter the content can easily incorporate a bit of movement whether it be getting up from the desk and marching around the classroom perimeter or simply staying put and getting those hands, feet, (and brain) in on the action.
This section is chock full of ideas to get you and your students active and involved in the classroom lessons. Pocket Ideas are quick, easy-to-implement mini-lessons that can be printed off, laminated, and filed in a recipe box, clipped to a lesson plan, or (especially for preschool teachers) slipped in your smock pockets. A workshop participant suggested the concept, and I’ve been doing them ever since!! Video clips include my allthesmartmoves Idea of the Week as well as clips of me working with preschool children in the classroom.
Broken out by subject, type of activity, time allocation, or educational lesson, this section provides activity suggestions ideas you can immediately put to work and provides a springboard of ideas to incorporate into future class sections, and with only small changes, these movement ideas can be altered to be appropriate for any age from preschool thru high school.
