Who Is….

Darlene Blackford is a movement-educator specialist who has worked with thousands of children in the area of movement-education in the classroom.  She has developed, implemented, and refined practical and fun strategies that encourage children to move their bodies while learning classroom objectives.   Ms. Blackford draws from a rich and diverse a background which includes classroom instruction, teacher-training, and workshop presenter experience.

Darlene originated and directed the Otero Junior College Dance Program which encouraged all children to experience the joy of dance.  In the last twelve years, she has been developing a  movement-education program for Pre-K children in Southeastern Colorado, involving several hundred children and their teachers.

Darlene Blackford believes that all areas of the curriculum can be taught in a movement way, and can demonstrate how to incorporate movement into many parts of the school day.    Mrs. Blackford holds a B.S. in Biological Science Education from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO and a Masters in Education – Integrated Arts in the Curriculum- from Lesley University,  Cambridge, Mass.
